In the second quarter of 2023, the top five news and magazine apps in Kenya demonstrated diverse performance trends across downloads, revenue, and active users. This data, sourced from Sensor Tower, provides valuable insights into user engagement and app popularity.

Opera News: breaking & local exhibited a consistent presence with weekly downloads fluctuating between 7.6K and 16.2K. Notable peaks were seen at the end of March and late June. Active users showed a slight decline from approximately 285K in late March to 271K by the end of June.

Citizen Digital experienced a significant variation in weekly downloads, starting strong with 25K at the end of March but dropping to around 6.3K to 7.8K towards the end of June. The app maintained a steady active user base, averaging around 130K to 150K throughout the quarter.
